The 6th Annual Tipton Community Recognition Banquet was held Octhber 18th at the S.P.D.E.S. hall and the theme for the evening was "Hometown Heroes". Keynote speaker Pastor Larry Blevins addressed the crowd and all enjoyed Power Point Presentations including a moving depiction of local hero Sargent Timothy P. Martin killed while on duty in Iraq. A special recognition was given to retired U. S. Air Force Captain and Judge M. W. Del Re as a former WWII Prisoner of war.

The Tipton First Southern Baptist Church will be celebrating its 70th birthday on October 4th, 2008 starting at 10:00 AM. The widely acclaimed Sons of the Shepherd will be singing in a concert not to be missed. There will be a potluck, the church will provide the meat for the BBQ so bring your own favorite picnic side dishes. Please join us in the celebration of an organization that has served the community all these many years. There will be fun and activities for all ages. The Tipton Community Food Bank, held it's first Food Give-Away on Friday under new management, June 13th, 2008. In conjunction with FoodLink, a national non-profit food distribution organization, Loretta Perry, Administrative Coordinator, along with Tipton Community Council Treasurer Lynda Fitzpatrick, arranged the new location at the First Southern Baptist Church. Pastor Steve Hunt and wife Tammy, along with other members of the church and the community at large, provided free food to almost 200 recipients of the area. Food is distributed to all with only proof of residency in the community as a requirement. Click here to view a few pictures of the event.

Members of Tipton CSET and The Tipton Community Council volunteered to assist in a 2 day event sponsored by Tulare County NHLB. The program included free consultations and workshops designed to assist homeowners asses their risks with forclosure. Many lending institutions were in attendance as well. No Homeowner Left Behind is a non-profit community based collaborative response to the growing problem of foreclosure.
Times are certainly getting harder and many local businesses are cutting back employees. CSET (Community Service and Employment Training) is serving our community with many various programs including training and other forms of assistance. Be sure to visit www.cset.org for further information.
